Well folks the Lord has Blessed us with yet another BEAUTIFUL day here at the ranch. The sun is shining and the temperatures are on the way up. Currently it is 51 degrees and hardly any wind at all. Praise the Lord for this AWESOME day!!! Don and I didn't work on the round pen today we are just being lazy I guess. We went out and fed this morning and of course I groomed and loved the horses then we came back in the house to fix lunch. I am working on getting a couple fundraisers for the rescue planned out and also working on a news letter for the rescue. I believe we are going to try to have a monthly news letter if I can just get things organized for it. I will post more info on here about the fund raisers as I get it all organized. Right now we are working on a spaghetti dinner and gospel concert with Heavens Highway playing. In May we are planning to have a chili supper with a Blue Grass festival and pie auction. Well folks today I started working on getting our 2011 year end tax stuff ready and am working on spread sheet for 2012. I am THE WORST at letting the book work pile up and pile up then having to get it all done at once. But this year I am going to turn over a new leaf and keep it logged in the spread sheet as I go. Then at the end of the year I already have every thing in order just gotta put the figures to it. I do all our paperwork and taxes because one time Don and I paid a cpa to do our taxes cause we thought he would get us the best deductions and all, Well I paid the man $300.00 and I ended up having to redo our taxes myself. Soooo I vowed then that I would not ever pay anyone to figure my taxes again. The IRS has offices and them folks there are always glad to help me out. In fact that year I paid to have them done the cpa said I owed money and when the lady at the IRS office helped me we found that I actually got some back. So I learned my lesson on that and I learned really how easy it is to figure your own taxes. I do take some classes every year to make sure I am up to date on everything but I take them through the IRS and guess what they are free! Well anyway folks gotta run now and get ready for work. Well folks just wanted to check in a post for ya all today!! It is a rainy day here and the ranch so we are just staying inside just kickin back today. I am off to work in about 30 minutes and was told yesterday anyone with a back log needed to work 10's this week and guess what I have a back log so mornings are not early for me this week but i will sure be loving it when i get the check. LOL. Don went out and fed horses this morning while i had my coffee, read my Bible and got dressed then i hit the kitchen. I made some AWESOME Chicken vegetable soup with indian fried bread and some peanut butter cookies for lunch. Now i gotta get off here and head to work for the evening. I think we are going to try to trail ride in the morning before i have to go to work so I might not be able to get on the computer tomorrow. Well folks for some time now The Lord has been dealing with me about a few very important decisions that I needed to make. I am a VERY stubborn woman and sometimes he has to get pretty harsh with me to make me understand what he is telling me. But there is a few things that have been made perfectly clear to me today!!! Number one is God wants me to start going to my own Church again, the fellowship on the trail is awesome but God has something else in store for me now, number two is I am to get my finances straight and keep them that way, God has provided us with the money we just gotta use it wisely I have a GREAT job and Don gets disability, number three is that I have to turn my children over to God and have FAITH that he won't let them go without shelter or food and that he is working in their lives, number four is I have got to spend more time in God's word and he will BLESS me more and more. So guess what folks I am going back to basics I will be spending my Sunday mornings in Church where we all belong, I will be have more money before long because I will have my finances in order and my priorities straight with my money, I will spend more time on my knees praying for my Children cause that is the best thing I can do for them, I will spend less time on the computer and more time with God and his Word, I will be happy because the more time I spend with God and his word the more God will Bless me!!!!! Halleluiah!!!!Halleluiah!!! Glory to God!!!!!! Well all I am getting off here and will post again tomorrow but right now me and God are going to spend some quality time together!!! Thank you Jesus!! God has sure Blessed us with another absolutely Beautiful day here at the ranch. I had to work late last night so didn't get alot done today cause I slept till 8:30 but we are still enjoying this weather. Watching all the horses out in the pasture grazing and our little rescue horse stink standing here watching me through the window. Stink is a older horse around 12 to 14 years old he was brought to us with a partner in crime that we named Ink We called the stink and ink cause what one was into the other was right there into it also. Ink passed away on fathers day. He was just so undernourished when he came to us that we just couldn't seem to bring him back. But we did manage to save our little stink. He is such a blessing and is so layed back. Such a sweet little guy to be around and we really have not found anything that bothers him. I believe he has been foundered but not real sure yet. Next time the farrier is out I am going to have him check his feet and see if he has been. Stink has one eye missing but that does not seem to bother him. as long as you don't just walk up to that side and not let him know you are there. He will make a awesome companion horse for some one as soon as he is able to go up for adoption. Anyway not alot going on around the ranch today. Hope you all have a Blessed day. Don and Linda

Good Morning folks I sure hope everyone is as Blessed as we are here at the ranch!!! Don and I have been working on building the new round pen. We have got 3 of the poles set and are working the ground. When we get it done we still need to add 2 more stalls on to the barn then we are going to add a lean too on the side of the barn with a couple of open stalls, Then we will be building lean too's in the rescue horses turn out and some where in there we will be building a new front porch. So needless to say we have alot to get done around here. Oh yea and in the mean time I am working with my Lu Lu getting her sacked out and ready to take the saddle and be ponied on the trail. We just have one rescue horse here at the ranch right now and one at a foster facility. We do have some fun fund raisers coming up and going to be busy with them. Will keep ya all posted on them. Just 6 short months

Well Folks here we are it is just 6 short months since Grandma McCall graduated from this ole earth to her heavenly home in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, now we are back to the same funeral home and same cemetery putting Grandpa McCall's ole earthly body to rest here In Craig Missouri. Grandpa's Graduation day was August 31st, 2011. He has went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We sure do miss both of them but we also know their work on earth is done!!! They were both the best Grandparents a person could ask for! I feel very fortunate to have been able to enjoy my grandparents for so many years!! There are many folks that don't get to have their grandparents as long as I had mine. I also have the peace of mind that we will meet again some day in heaven!! We have a very Blessed family to have been able to have them both in our lives and now their struggle here on earth is done. Praise God they are in him arms right now, Walking streets of gold, They are in their mansions that God went ahead of us to prepare Just for us, Singing and rejoicing, Wow folks we can only imagine!!! I will miss them but I am so very happy for them too!!!

We need to pray this every morning before we do anything.

Well folks we have not gotten a lot done around the ranch lately with the temperatures at 117 degrees that makes the heat indexes at around 125 degrees and if you think I am lying go to www.5newsonline.com and check out the record highs for the river valley for this summer. You would think that as much time as I have been spending in the house that my house work would all be done and I would have a spotless house, But I sure don't. In fact by the time we get back in from feeding of a morning the heat has just zapped the energy out of me and It takes the rest of the morning to get my energy back so I can head off to work. Today I am cleaning house though and hope to get a lot done. It is coffee break time right now but will be back at it in just a few. Well got the living room half cleaned and the front bathroom cleaned including washing walls I think thats enough for the day. It is my day off work and when it gets a little cooler this evening Don and I are going out to move the water tank over for the rescue horses, cause their part of the pond is getting pretty low. Then we are going to work on finishing up putting the goose neck hitch in my pick up. Man Oh Man I can't wait till we can go trail riding again!!!! If it cools off enough this evening I plan on starting to sack Lu Lu out getting her ready to go to the trainer this fall. I just know she will be every bit as good of a horse as Kansas is. He is just so AWESOME to ride. I am hoping Lu Lu will be a good girl for the grandkids to ride someday. Well folks this morning I woke up and it was thundering outside. It rained some pretty big rain drops for about 2 minutes then it stopped. Now the sun is out and it is warming up out there. We just had some of our dear friends Mary Ann and Sylvia come visit and they brought us some rope halters for the rescue and some tack for the tack auction we are planning on having this fall as one of our fund raisers. We had a good visit with them and are so glad they came to see us. We got a night ride going on this weekend here at the ranch. We will be riding out from Foothills arena around 8. P.m and will be riding to the lake and back. Not sure how long it will take to do this ride so we will just get back when we get back. Will try to get some pic's for everyone to see but not sure how they will turn out after dark though I do have a setting on my camera for night but don't know how to use it. Wow folks we just got back in from feeding and man oh man is it ever hot!!!!!! But it is summer so I guess it is suppose to be hot LOL. Well not alot going on around here right now. Had a 3 day weekend and not looking forward to going back to work today, but I gotta. We got the goose neck hitch in my pick up this weekend so here before long I will be able to pull the horses with my pick up. We still have to get the hitch welded in, get 2 new tires on the back of my pick up, get the plugs and plug wires changed and put the trailer brake attachment in my pick up then we will be set and ready to pull them. Oh yea I gotta get the brakes on my pick up changed too. Well folks gotta get off here and get something done before I go to work. Will post more tomorrow. Have a Blessed day!!! Just thought I would share some of the pic's from our Hot June day riding and swimming with the horses at Catalpa, Ar on the Mulberry River. Just a bunch of good ole folks having a bunch of fun. If you have never spent quality time with a horse or shared a fun day with a horse I understand why you are so stressed!!! Horses are so amazing and relaxing. It is Awesome to just be able to be with them, love them, groom them and just spend time with them, but when you get involved and ride them, play with them, and just plain have fun with them It is Absolutely Amazing!!!!

Well Things are going pretty good around the ranch. It is hot hot hot and even more humid. LOL. We are just trying to get through summer once again! Will be going riding tomorrow up on the mountain cause it is cooler up there. Gonna ride to the Catalpa cafe and have some lunch then go to the creek and swim for a couple hours then ride back to the trailers. We had a yard sale today to raise money to help pay for the Rescue horses Vet bills and we raised just a little over $200.00. That lacks just a few dollars of paying half of the vet bill so I was pretty pleased!!! We done great!!! Not sure what our July fund raiser is going to be but for our August one we will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers with tattor salad and drinks at the bargins galore on 64 for 3 days. For those of you that don't know what bargins galore is it is 130 miles of yard sales on 64 highway in Arkansas. It starts at Fort Smith and Runs just past Conway!!! There are people from all over the United States that comes to this event so we should do good feeding the hungry yard salers. Well folks I am beat so Im going to get off here for tonite. Well Hugh, Don and I took off this morning on a mission to finish marking the Canyon trail and we got it done. We had a AWESOME day just riding and marking the trail. We met a couple of our friends on the trail and chatted with them for a bit. The Lord Blessed us with beautiful weather, Awesome horses, and absolutely breath taking scenery. I really really needed the awesome ride we had today!!! I have been working day shift since we went back to work from Christmas and New years break. I bid on a new job and I had to train on days because they did not have anyone on second shift to train me. I was told I might have to be on days a couple of months. So I thought well it is going to be tough but I will make it. Well It is getting more than tough folks and I really really need your prayers!!! It has been well over 2 months I am down to taking only half of my medicine at night cause if I take the whole dose I can't get up and function in enough time to get to work. So these past few weeks have not been good for me! Last week I spent most of the time I was not at work in tears, I am very emotional and my mind just races all the time. I just can't do one more week without lots and lots of prayer folks!!! It is just knit picking that is keeping me on day shift! I am doing the job and doing it pretty good and if they want perfect 100 % of the time they are looking at the wrong person!!!! Well anyway folks just pray for me please!!! I know with God I can make it through this!! Well I am going to get off here for the evening and go watch t.v with the good ole hubby that sticks with me through thick and thin!! A short but Wonderful weekend at the ranch!

Well I had to work yesterday but Don went trail riding with some of our wonderful friends and he had a good ride. Today Don, Our friend Hugh and I went for a ride to the lake and back. Don rode Dakota and of course He done Awesome. I rode Kansas and he done Wonderful too! We had a good ride and it actually turned out a lot warmer today than we thought it was going to be. We really had a good time. Tomorrow I am going to start putting the saddle on Boo. I think I am going to start her out just putting the little bitty kid's saddle that we have on her and see how she does. I have been sacking her out lately and she takes the saddle blanket really good. I am excited to see how she is going to do with the saddle.

I will post tomorrow and let you all know. I am really looking forward to the time off we are getting for Christmas and New year so we can get some riding in. I should have 10 straight days off work. That is if we can get our back log caught up by this Thursday. If we can't I will have to work the 28th and 29th but that's okay it still will give me 8 days to ride. I sure hope the weather is good so we can. I want to work with Kansas on the trail. He is a Awesome horse but he still needs a lot of work on the trail and with leg cues.

I also think our Granddaughter Hailey is going to come down and ride some with us while she is out of school for Christmas break. Well folks I am going to close this post for today. BRRRRR it has been cold here at the ranch!

Here it is Christmas 2010 already! Wow this year has went by so fast! Well we are getting ready here at the ranch to blow into 2011 with a blast! We have a lot of things in the making around here just trying to get started on them all. We are working on some fund raisers for our rescue to raise money to help keep our adoption fee's down and also to supply the many things we need for the rescue. We are going to try to get to work on building more runs and some shelter for rescue horses that come to Tangled mane. At the current time we are trying to just get the basics such as Feed,Hay, A turnout blanket, feed buckets, lead ropes, halters, wormer, and donations for emergency veterinarian care and farrier service. If anyone would be interested in donating to the rescue please go to our website and you can donate through pay pal there or in the contact us section of our website you can get all of our contact info. We here at Tangled Mane Equine Rescue would be greatful for any donation. We are also taking orders for T shirts and hoodies to raise money for the rescue. I will be posting a pic of them in the next few days. You will be able to order them through our website also very soon. We have also been working on trails and doing as much trail riding as possible. I have been working 58 hours a week at my job so not a lot of time for riding right now, but thats okay cause the paychecks are sure nice and I get to ride a little still. Don is working with Dakota and they are both doing amazingly well!! Dakota is a very smart horse and is taking to the trails very good. There just is not a lot that bothers him. He is a AWESOME horse and I believe he is going to be a great horse for Don. Kansas is doing good he has had a couple weeks off cause I rode baby girl last weekend so this weekend I will be riding Kansas. Really don't want to leave him setting in the pasture too long he is still pretty new at all this riding stuff but doing WONDERFUL! We have started messing with Lu Lu a little lately too. Sacking her out and ground work so when the spring comes she will be ready to start light riding under saddle. Boo is doing good. She is really starting to look good. I have been putting the saddle pad on her lately and it just don't seem to bother her at all. She has put on a lot of weight and has most of her strength back, but still is a little weak at times. Boo is going to make whoever adopts her a wonderful little horse. Last but not least is Sandy Don's mare she is doing great! She does love to go so she gets a little upset when Dakota gets taken out of the pasture and gets rode and she does not get to go. What a crew to try to keep up with and they are each one amazing in their own little ways.

We are not doing much of a Christmas here at the ranch just a few small things. We are trying to save some money to try to get started on a few projects we have going for the rescue. We would rather put that money into something that is going to help the horses than to just go out and buy stuff that isn't going to get used but just a few time. It is such a awesome feeling to see a neglected horse get what it needs. So we have decided all the kids are grown and have families of their own if they do get us something get us something that is on the wish list for the rescue.

There is a trail ride tomorrow at the ranch I believe they are parking everyone at foothills arena and riding to the lake and back. A beautiful trail i will never get tired of riding. I gotta work but they will have fun and i will check out all the pic's on facebook. If anyone is interested in riding with them they will be leaving out around 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning. This is about a 4 1/2 hour ride by the time they take a good break at the lake. Beautiful scenery and Great group of people to ride with!

So sorry to all our blogger friends. We have been so busy trying to keep up our facebook page and our website for the rescue that we just let our blog go. But we are back and will be blogging for you at least twice a week now. We have finally started our equine rescue that we have been wanting to get off the ground for a few years now. It has been a lot of work for us and still have a lot of work to do, But we are just so happy to finally get started on one of our dreams here at the ranch. Just to be able to help these horses is well worth all the work we have to put into it. I will get things updated on this blog in the next few days. Get you all some new pic's to look at of Boo (our rescue horse) and all the other horses, and of our recent trail rides. Looking forward to staying in touch with everyone. It is finally cooling off here. In fact Don opened the windows in the house last night and they are still opened. We have a good breeze here at the ranch today. We got up this morning and went for a much needed trail ride. I rode Kansas and he is doing wonderful. he has been put in the pasture and only rode about 3 times in the past 2 months and he just acted like he has done this all his life. He is such a AWESOME horse!! It was great to get to go riding this morning. Wow did I ever need a good trail ride!!!!! I am ready to start riding those all day rides again. I sure hope it just keeps getting cooler from here and we do not get anymore of that Hot Hot Hot weather this year. I am ready for fall. Well anyway I posted some pic's for ya all today. The top one is of Boo the rescue horse we are housing right now. She is doing wonderful and is going to be a good little horse for someone when she gets ready for adoption. She will be up for adoption here before long. She has a wonderful attitude and is so easy going. The second pic is our new addition to the ranch. His name is Dakota and he is a 4 year old Tennessee walker. He is a wonderful horse. He is so gentle and you can do about anything you want to with him. He just takes everything as it comes at him. He has a wonderful attitude and I know he is going to make Don a good horse. He can walk that walk for sure. He is not trained yet but soon will be. Don has been doing some work with him. We have only had him here for about 2 weeks. We just love him.I cant wait till we start riding him. Well folks I gotta get off here and get lunch so I can head to work. Beautiful Boo

It August in Arkansas!!! For those of you that are not sure what I am talking about " THE HEAT IS ON!!! IT IS HOT HOT HOT!! ". I am so ready for fall. It has just been way to hot to ride for the past few weeks. We have been riding at daylight when we do ride and it is still really hot by the time we get back. But before long it will cool off for us and we will hopefully get back to riding. I need a good long day trail ride with me, my horse and God and of course my wonderful hubby! We are trying to get the axles replaced on the horse trailer this week. Man that is a job. But the hubby and I been getting it done just a little at a time. When they shipped the axles they forgot to send some of the parts so we are waiting for them to come fed ex in the next couple of days. We gotta get it back together before Labor day weekend cause we are Lonesome D bound for 3 days. We got a house sitter lined up to stay and take care of things here at the farm and we are heading to the trails. I CAN'T WAIT!! I just wanted to share these pic's with ya all. Remember them two little malnourished, furry and very sick horses we brought to the ranch back in Feb. of this year? Well the top pic is them. Wow they have turned out to be just absolutely amazing horses. They are both very smart and very eager to do what you ask them too. I have been riding Kansas and he is a AWESOME horse to ride. They are both so beautiful! The bottom pic is Beautiful Boo. She is the most recent rescue horse to come to the ranch. She is a AWESOME little mare. Not sure what breed she is but the vet says she is around 3 years old. She was in bad shape when we brought her to the ranch. But we have managed to start getting some weight put back on her and I truely believe she is going to be a WONDERFUL little horse. She is not up for adoption yet but will be as soon as the court proceedings are over with. I am not sure if Boo has ever been saddled and rode or not but I do know she has been worked with and so far I have not found anything that bothers her. I have done some sacking out with her and she just stands there relaxed and does not get excited about any of it. I really believe that if she has not been rode she will not be hard to train. I am going to try to find the time to throw a saddle blanket on her this weekend and just see what she does. I seriously doubt if she moves she is just that gentle. Babygirl has been in the pasture for the past 2 months and man oh man is she ever getting fat. We have Ronnie coming out to put shoes on her the first part of September so I can start riding her again. She is just getting way to out of shape. I am taking her to Lonesome D to ride. I am also taking Kansas so I can get some miles on him. Sandy is doing good. Don got that new saddle and it does not hurt her back and she is really liking it I think. She is always ready to go. She is a AWESOME girl! well I guess I have covered all the horses. Don and I are doing good just out of energy cause this heat has us drained. When the heat does ease up though we got plenty to do. We are going to add on to the barn, build some runs with lean too's for rescue horses on the west side of the pasture, build a chicken house and finish the round pen. On top of all that I will be riding and working the horses. Wow we will be busy but thats okay we like it. Hopefully we will be able to have at least one post luck trail ride this fall and also maybe have some trail cleaning days. See we just got all kinds of stuff on our plates now just gotta get cooler weather to get it done. well better get off here and quit rambling on for now. CATCHING YOU UP ON WHATS GOING ON AROUND THE RANCH!

Well lets see where to begin. When I posted last we had just got Kansas back from the trainer and Was having trouble figuring out the cues Danial used on him. Well since then we had Danial come up and show us how he was riding him. Wow now I got it figured out and Me and Kansas have got it goin on. It is GREAT!! I love riding him!!! I have been riding him as much as possible. I just want to put a lot or trail miles on him basically that is what he needs right now. The bottom pic is of Kansas all saddled up ready to hit the trails.The Alston's came up to trail ride with us the on the fourth of July weekend. This was the first time Kansas had been taken out on the trails with any other horses besides Don's horse Sandy. He just acted like it was nothing he didn't even get excited about all the other horses being there or nothing. He just acted like a ole pro at trail riding. It was great and I am so proud of him. Don and I rode that Sunday too and we were taking a break on the trail and heard hard rain start hitting the tree's. I thought oh man here we go this is it he is going to get all excited on me and I will have a heck of a ride back to the ranch. Don and I mounted up and headed out as soon as we got turned around and headed back it just started pouring big ole rain drops. He acted like he didn't even know it was raining. He just went on right behind Sandy and we were drenched when we got back Of course as soon as we got back to the ranch it stopped raining. Oh well it was a good experience for us and it sure ain't the first time I've rode in the rain. LOL! Anyway Kansas is AWESOME! I do still have to work on him with the spray bottle and sack him out more but that is just going to take time. He is not real spooky but I feel like you can never sack them out enough. He has already had deer run out in front of him on the trail. He stopped and checked them out and as soon as he realized they were not going to eat him he just went on. We have crossed creeks and we have a little issue with mud puddles but we are working on that. I am sure we will always have some issues we will be working on. Well anyway The top pic is of a new rescue horse we are housing here at the ranch. I call her Boo. She is a 3 year old mare and we are not sure what breed she is. She is a Awesome little horse. We handle her everyday and we really have not found any bad issues with her yet. She came to the ranch on June 29th and when we got her she was so very week and looked so very bad. She was just skin hanging off of bones. I can't post any full body pic's of Boo because it is not good. But She has been here at the ranch for 3 weeks yesterday and she is really starting to come around. She has got a lot of her strength back When we first brought her to the ranch she could not stand up any longer than about 30 minutes at a time and she would get real shakey and have to lay down. it took about 2 days of feeding every 4 hours to get her to where she could stand any length of time at all. Now she is standing all day and running around in her pasture. We turned her out in the small pasture along the drive way of the ranch she has plenty of grass and water. We are down to feeding her twice a day and she is just doing great. She is putting on weight and feeling good. She will be put up for adoption sooner or later. She is going to make someone a awesome little horse. She is so very loveable and we really have not found anything she is scared of yet. She still has about 400 pounds she needs to gain but that is just going to take time. Well anyway I guess now you all know what has been keeping me busy lately. I will post some pic's of Boo tomorrow maybe if I can get some good ones taken in the morning. I gotta get off here and get ready for work. Hope you all have a spirit filled day!! God Bless!

KANSAS IS HOME!!!

Well folks we got Kansas back home from the trainer today. I was so proud of him. We had to borrow a trailer to go get him because we still do not have a new battery for Don's pick up. We had worked on getting him loaded in a trailer before but never in a regular stock trailer. We went in the barn and got him and Don walked him right up to the trailer he stopped and smelled it then just jumped right in. I was so proud of him. We got him home and unloaded him. Don wanted to ride him some before we put him in the pasture so he saddled him up. Don lunged him a little bit then got on him to ride. Well that is when the fun started. Don was not sure what cues Danial (the trainer) had been using on him and he was not getting him to do anything he was wanting him to do. Well of course Don got frustrated but at least he has sense enough to put the horse away when he gets that frustrated. I had to set and think about what all Danial was doing the day i went up to watch him ride Kansas. So now I have thought about it and can remember some of the ways he was reining him and cueing him so tomorrow I am going to get on him and try it. I also just got off the phone from Danial and he explained some of it too me and told me I could call him as many times a day as I need to call him until we figure it all out. Well anyway i wanted to share the pic's I took of Don riding Kansas the first day we got him back. I am so glad to have our baby home. Other than that not much more going on around the ranch. Tomorrow when I get home from church we are going to work and ride him some more then probably go for a trail ride. Maybe i will be able to ride Kansas on the trail tomorrow we will just see. Catching up on Chores!

Well folks not a lot going on here at the ranch today. Don and I went out this morning before it got to hot to feed, then we finished tilling the garden, and put a tie ring up in Lu Lu's feeding spot in the barn because Kansas will be coming home this weekend. Lu Lu has been eating in Kansas spot since he has been at the trainers. We are so ready for our big boy to come home and so excited about riding him. I know with work he is a great horse. Don went down last Friday to ride him and was going to bring him home, But it did not work out that way. He was putting his tongue over the bit and was not responding to the bit at all with Don. He reared up with him and Don slid off the back of the saddle. We are thinking that bit was too harsh for his mouth. So we took just a regular ole curb bit up there for Daniel to use on him. I called Daniel yesterday to find out how he was doing, He told me he had just got done working Kansas and He could not have ask him to do any better. He is doing great. So we are hoping he will be ready to come home this Saturday.

Great weekend of Trail riding!!!

Well folks we had 3 absolutely AWESOME days of trail riding. Despite the fact that our AC went out on Saturday evening and we did not get it fixed till Monday afternoon we still had a good time. We was not going to let satan ruin our weekend with our Good friends. Actually we figured we probably would not be able to get anyone to come work on the AC till today. But Thanks to Clarksville heat and air we got it fixed yesterday. Him and his wife came out and he had it fixed in about 30 minutes. We had to have him come out and replace this condenser last year too. He said we might have to replace it once of twice every year. He said the compressor is getting too much voltage which is probably caused from the power flickering on and off like it does here all the time. we are on the end of a line and our electric goes out and back on at any little breeze it seems like.

Well anyway Saturday we had a Wonderful time. we all met down here at the arena and rode to the lake and back. When we got back Bridget and Monica had our tables sat up for us and the food out so that we could eat. We had a potluck dinner and sat around visiting with all our wonderful friends. I tell you I just really enjoy being able to sit around and just relax and visit with our trail riding buddies. We really really enjoyed ourselves and hope everyone else did. We have a wonderful group of people that we ride with and always have such a good time with them.

Sunday we went up to Strawberry Loop and had another good ride with a great group of people.We really had a good time and got some good pic's. The scenery up there is just beautiful.

Monday Don and I saddled up early that morning and took a short ride over toward the lake. We just rode half the way over and stopped for a snack then turned around and headed back. We rode with a lady Saturday that had told us about marking a pretty good trail around the culvert wash out so we went and checked it out. It will be a good little loop to get us off the main trail either coming out or going back. We are going to mark it the pink and red trail because the main trail is pink that way folks will be able to take it and will know they will end back up on the main trail.

This morning we done chores and then before it got really hot Don tilled the garden. It was needing to be tilled. The grass had grown back between the rows because it had been so wet we couldn't get in it to till it. I am not complaining about the rain though. Well anyway we have a lot of tomatoes, squash and cucumbers coming on, but i am not sure how everything else is going to do yet. This is our first year for a garden since we moved to the ranch 3 years ago. It will get better every year.

Well better get off here and get things done before work I got a lot of house cleaning to get done this week. Hope you all have a wonderful week. God Bless you all!!!!!!!!

Thought I would share some pic's I have taken here lately around the ranch. The top pic is of my little Lu Lu running and playing with the big girls the other day. She is such a amazing little gal and I really believe she is going to be a wonderful horse for me. Since her big brother Kansas is gone to the trainers we have been working pretty hard with Lu Lu and the bug spray bottle, Lifting the front and back feet, standing tied and we been trying to get all that winter hair out. I am starting sacking her out tomorrow. I have not talked to the trainer yet this week to see how Kansas is doing. I will be calling him tomorrow and will post to let you all know what he says about how Kansas is doing with his training.

The second pic is of the storms that rolled through here Friday morning. They had just come through here at the ranch and was on top of the mountain. I thought this was a beautiful picture to share with you all.

The third pic is of some geese that landed on the pond here at the ranch a couple of weeks ago and we got a picture of them taking a break.

Well not much going on around here just being lazy today. Don and I made some homemade doughnuts this afternoon and got our bellies full of them now we are just laying around doing nothing. Roscoe (our Australian shepherd is laying here beside me all stretched out and Max ( our jack russell ) is laying on the couch with Don all stretched out watching a movie. What a Glorious day God has given us

Well folks God has Blessed us with a absolutely beautiful day today. The sun is shining and the temperature is 67 degrees with a slight breeze. It is just so amazing how we take some of the things God gives us for granted some times. We wake up gripping and grouching about things that really don't matter or about our job that God has given us or about something someone said to us yesterday that just didn't set right with us and we probably took it the wrong way in the first place. Well anyway I could go on and on because I am probably right there with the worlds worst of doing these things. In fact this morning I was laying in bed and Don had the TV on and for some reason it just sounded like it was blaring. I got up shut the bedroom door and lay there grouching to myself (Nobody but me and God could hear it so what good was it doing) When I should have been talking to God and asking for the strength I need to get through the day. But finally God got it through to me that if I would just sit down take a minute and have a good talk with me he would show me the way to a wonderful day. So folks when you get up of a morning and don't have a song of praise in your heart just sit down and have a good talk with God. You will be amazed at what praise will do for you.

Iaaiah12:1-3
"And in that day thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Behold, God is my salvation" I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song" he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the well of salvation."

Wow what a powerful scripture. That we can draw water out of the well of salvation. Halleluiah!!! Praise you Jesus!!!!!!!!!!! We can trust and not be afraid because the Lord is our strength and our song. All we gotta do is turn in over to him and trust him he WILL take care of it for us. Even our smallest little grips he will take care of if we turn it over to him. I am so Thankful that I have a master that gets things done for me. Praise God for his forgiveness and his song. Thank you Jesus!! God has really Blessed me with this scripture this morning folks and just to think I woke up in such a grippy grouchy mood this morning and God has Blessed me through it this morning. Wow when you get up and are feeling grouchy or down just sit down and have a talk with Jesus he will make your day better but you gotta let him work in you. Have a little talk with Jesus tell him all about your troubles.He is your comforter.

Well folks I hope I helped someone have a better day today. God layed that sermon on my heart this morning. Take a little bit of time out of your day to talk to God you will be amazed at the difference it makes in your life. God Bless you all!!

We are all doing pretty good here at Tangled Mane just busy busy busy. I gotta go out this morning and put some bug dust on the garden cause something is eating the leaves off my beans as soon as the pop up. Not real sure what yet we have put some bug dust on them but it has rained the past couple of days too. I just can't wait to get to eat all of it. We checked on Kansas at the trainers Monday and he is doing wonderful. He is still working on ground work and sacking him out right now. He probably won't start riding him alot until next week. WE'RE SO EXCITED!

Okay folks this Saturday is the benefit ride and the scenery is just beautiful. We are going to get to ride with our good trail riding buddies and have a fun filled day of riding fish fry and good gospel singing. I know we are going to have a great time. The weather is suppose to be Absolutely Beautiful Saturday too. In the mid 70's and sunny. We just can't wait!!!

Well anyway this is Kansas first week at the trainer and I have wanted to call every day just to see how he is doing but Don keeps telling me "Linda he has only been there since Monday" (thats only been 3 days LOL). You will find out next Monday how he is doing. Of course I would like to be there to watch every minute of it but I can't. LOL. I just know he is doing good though, He is so smart and eager to please. I know he is going to be a really good horse for Don. Anyway when I go to see him Monday I will post and let you all know the exciting news on how his training is going. All the other horses are doing good. Lu Lu has been loading in the trailer really good for us and she is picking up her front feet really good. She will be ready for Ronnie (our farrrier) when the time comes to shoe her.

Just a few words.

Been working in the garden this morning wanted to get the okra and the beets in the ground before it starts raining this week. We had to replant them. Man we have got cucumbers coming up and we are going to have plenty. A garden is so rewarding. I can't wait to start canning and freezing and most of all eating all this stuff.

Don and I rode over to the lake and back yesterday morning before I had to go to work last night. We figured we better get a ride in before the rain moved in cause riding this weekend is not looking to promising according to the weather man on channel 5. Next weekend is the benefit ride with the fish fry and singing Saturday May 8th, 2010. Hope all our riding buddies can make it.

Don has been bush hogging the pasture most of the week and is sure does look good. Well folks thats about all that has been going on around here. Hope you all have a blessed day!!! God Bless!!!

BEEN REALLY REALLY BUSY HERE AT THE RANCH

Well folks I know it has been awhile since we posted. The weather has been just Absolutely Beautiful for trail riding and with the cold cold winter we had man were we ever ready. So we have been hitting the trails every chance we get and having a Great time at it too. For spring break we went to lonesome D horse camp and had a Wonderful time even though we did get rained on and it was cold. We got a good ride in that first day we were there and we gathered around the campfire with good friends and chit chatted all evening. Thats the kind of vacation we like.

Another thing that has kept us busy for a few weeks was the Relay for life trail ride we had on April 10th. Our friend's Jessica and her mother helped me get everything together for the ride and it all turned out a great success. We had a absolutely wonderful ride and met some Great horse people. That is what makes those trail rides so much fun and so special is you get to meet wonderful people that share the same interest as you do. It is always so much fun. Now we are looking forward to the benefit ride on May 8th. There is a ride, fish fry and singing to raise money for Travis Willis who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. I just know that we are going to have a blast. I will post a copy of the flyer on this blog and if anyone wants more info on it you can always call or email us. I will also post some pic's of the RFL trail ride as soon as I get them. A girl that was there is sending me a copy of them. I had my camera with me but did not get time to take pic's. I am so glad someone took some. Thank you Tiffany!

We have a new addition to the ranch to tell you about. Our son Richard had a Australian shephard and he moved into a home that did not allow him to have Rosco so he came to live with us here at Tangled Mane Ranch. We took him on his first trail ride last week just Don and I cause we wanted to see how he would do. He ABSOLUTELY loved it. I got some pic's that I will post sometime this week of Rosco's first trail ride.

Update on babygirl

Well folks I don't have much time to update you all because I have to go to work early again today. But I will give you a quick run down on what's going on. Lu Lu and Kansas are doing really really good in the pasture with the big girls. Yesterday I believe there was a slight altercation in the barn right after feeding because we turned them loose and came back to the house to get ready for work and I looked out the kitchen window and Miss Priss was limping across the pasture. So we went out and checked her she seems to be pretty sore on the right front leg so we are figuring she got kicked by Kansas. Today they have not come out of the barn since we got back in the house cause it is raining so I am just waiting to see who is going to come out limping this morning. Man oh Man I sure wish we could get all this medicine and doctoring over with and get on with some good day's. Well any way baby girl is doing good she is still in quarantine from the other horses and the infection is still draining good. We are still giving her the penicillin shots every day and she is taking them VERY VERY good Praise The Lord!!!!!!!!!! The swelling in the lymph node is going down a lot and she is feeling a lot better. Things don't look so bad now. Though it is still a chore to bleach everything every day and disinfect us before we can even go from her to the other horses. We can't even groom her at all and go groom the other horses with out disinfecting everything including our selves. This has really really been trying lately.

Well anyway it is raining and about 55 degree's here at the ranch today. We have better days in sight GLORY TO GOD! We have BEAUTIFUL riding weather on the way, the horses are healing up pretty good, and starting next week I only have to work 10 hour days for 2 days. So if I can just get through this week I am going to get busy on the fundraiser trail ride and do some trail riding. Oh yea and some where in there I gotta find time to clean this filthy house, but that is not as much fun LOL. Well anyway I gotta run folks hope you have a SPIRIT FILLED DAY!! GOD BLESS!!

Whats happen'n around the ranch

Well yesterday morning I was getting ready to go help the hubby feed and the phone rang. It was our granddaughter from Fayetteville calling to see how Kansas and Lu Lu were doing. While on the phone with her Don came in and said he needed my help so I hurriedly got off the phone. He said get some antibacterial soap and water and come to the barn. I ask him which horse it was and he said Babygirl. My heart sunk!!!! So I got my water and rags and headed to the barn with him. When I got there she had blood all over her chin and neck. There was a big whole in her chin. The first thing I thought was someone had shot her, Then I got to looking closer and thought maybe it was a snake bite. So I told Don to get the horse trailer ready cause we were going to have to take her to the vet. So we loaded up and headed for the vet. He came out and took one look at it and said "have you vaccinated for strangles yet this year?". My heart sunk again cause i did not know nothing about Strangles but I knew it was very very contagious and we have 5 horses. So we started asking questions. He said we need to separate her from the other horses and put her on 30 cc of penicillin once a day for 7 to 10 days.. He said " Linda I know this does not look good but this is a good thing that the infection is coming out instead of going back into the body and causing what they call bastard strangles which could be deadly", I started Praising the Lord That the infection was coming out. It does look horrible But Praise God it is draining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well anyway today a lot of the swelling has went down and the spot does not look as bad today but is still draining the infection out Praise God, That's what we want it to do!!! This has taught me a very valuable lesson folks when you take your horses and are going to put them in pens that other horses have been in ALWAYS take a bottle of 1 part bleach 10 parts water and spray the pen or stall down FIRST! Before you put your horse in the pen! Cause this stuff is very contagious and it hits FAST!!! Well anyway she is going to be okay Glory to God!!!!

When we got home from the vet we turned Kansas and Lu Lu in the big pasture and things went really really good there. They all ran for a bit and then just calmed right down and started grazing. I got some pic's to share with you all. I won't have time today to post them but will in the next couple of day's. Babygirl is throwing a fit cause she has to be penned up and can't get out there to chase the new horses in the pasture but she will be back in there soon. Lu Lu and Kansas got to eat in the barn this morning with the big girls and everything went great there. I got pic's of that too. Lu Lu is barely taller than the feed trough it is soooooooo cute. She is finally shedding some of that hair. Man she is a hairy little thing in the winter for sure. Which is good cause I have a feeling that is what kept her alive this winter with the conditions she was living in and as cold as it was this winter. Kansas done really good his first day eating in the barn. Wow they are adjusting really really good and things are going so good with them. I am so proud of them.

I want to get miss priss started before long but we gotta get the round pen built and then we can start her under saddle and get going with her. She is going to make a really good horse for the grand kid's to ride I just know she is. I can't wait to ride her. And neither can our granddaughter Halee. I think for now I will start Halee on baby girl when we can get her down here to ride. I am sure she will catch right on to riding but she is just starting so we will ease her into it with babygirl. Well I am not sure where to start here. It has been so long since I posted. I just got pretty busy and did not take the time to post. I am very very sorry. I will make sure I keep up with my blogs from now on. Well back in Feb. we got our two little rescue horses Kansas and Lu Lu. Kansas is a 3 year old Paso fina/ foxtrotter gelding and Lu Lu is his full sister she is Paso fina/ foxtrotter 1year old filly (Mare). When we got them they were in pretty poor shape. They had manure and mud matted into their hair on their bellies and legs. They were both very very sick from parasites and also had a respiratory infections, both had rain rot, Kansas had a pressure sore on his left hip bone cause he was nothing but bones,He had just been gelded by a individual and had a very bad infection in his incision (I am sure they didn't use sterile equipment). When we got to the farm they were on to pick them up they had no water, no feed and no hay. They were in a 15 + 15 pen with 3 other horses that were very sick too. Well anyway they were in some VERY VERY BAD living conditions. When we brought them home they was not use to people very much at all. Kansas had been messed with some and was pretty gentle already but Lu Lu was so very scared. The first week with her was just spending time rubbing her during feeding time every morning we rubbed her all over and let her know we were not going to hurt her. Then we got the brushes out and went to grooming and would rub, rub, rub everyday as much as we could. By the second week we had them we could walk out to the pasture and Kansas would just walk right up to Don and let him catch him and let him pet him anytime. He was loving all the attention but Lu Lu still was not sure about us and still was not convinced we were not going to hurt her. We still had trouble catching Lu Lu and she would come up to you but would stay out of reach. It would take Don and I both to catch her. we spent hours grooming and rubbing. We hung a lead rope off of Lu Lu's halter so she would be easier to catch. (It was a little tricky trying to get a hold of that halter.) On the second week we started Kansas on picking up his feet and was getting the infection down in the incision, the pressure sore was still pretty bad but was healing some, and We were treating him for his rain rot everyday it was looking better. We still had a long way to go. Tomorrow March 22nd We have had Kansas and Lu Lu for 7 weeks. They are starting to put weight on, the infection in Kansas incision pretty much gone and he is healed pretty good, The pressure sore on Kansas hip bone is healed up and hair is starting to grow back on it, I can touch and brush Lu Lu all over her whole body ( even the tail and belly), she will pick up her front feet for us, she will come right up to us when we walk out there and will let us catch her, she likes her brushing every morning she really likes the attention, she is not scared of us anymore. Kansas has kicked out one time at Don when we first started messing with him but Lu Lu has never even acted like she was going to kick. She just soaks up the attention now. Lu Lu still has the respiratory infection pretty bad but is getting penicillin shots every day for the next 7 days. Kansas and the other horses are on the aureomycin crumbles ( which is a antibiotic that goes in the feed every day) just to keep them from catching it again from Lu Lu. As soon as we get a little more weight on Kansas we will start saddling him and getting him ready to start riding. He has been saddled before and rode once. They are both such gentle gentle horses and they love their new home cause they are getting cared for the way they need to be cared for. I am going to start Lu Lu this week on lifting the back feet and maybe on leading. We are going to turn them in the big pasture this week with the girls for a few hours everyday to kind of let everyone get use to them being in there. Kansas and Lu Lu have been in the small pasture along the drive way and have been getting to know the big girls at the fence for the past 2 weeks now. Things went pretty good with that and I sure do hope it helps with the getting to know each other in the big pasture. We have been riding and have some new pic's in our albums. and I am posting a album of Lu Lu and Kansas, the trip when we went to get them and some of when we turned them out of the pen into the small pasture also some pic's of our camping trip this weekend at Lonesome D Horsecamp. We only got to ride about 3 hours then it started raining when we got back to camp.Will one or our friends son started us a big ole camp fire and we all sat around last night and visited around the camp fire. It turned off cold 32 degrees this morning when we woke up and the heater was off in the camper (LOL).we got up and fixed camp breakfast this morning and had coffee. It snowed last night and we had snow sleet this morning. So we came on back to the ranch. Don and I were about froze when we got home today with 30 mile a hour winds blowing here at the ranch it was horrible trying to get the horses unloaded and back in the pasture and fed. Wow was we ever ready to get in the house and warm up. Anyway we had a good time even if it was cold and wet. I am posting a album of the camp for you all to check out. We had a really good time but we always do when we go with good friends and get to visit around the camp fire. I told Don no more spring break camping and he said you know if the weather is nice we will be there. (LOL) That is right too I am sure we will be. But every time we have went camping on spring break it has turned off cold and wet. We are hoping this is the last cold snap for the year. Man it has been a cold cold snowy snowy winter for us here in the Arkansas river valley this year and we have not got to do the riding we usually get to do. But the good riding season is here now and we will get some good pic's and stories to tell you all. We will keep you updated on the training and progress of Lu Lu and Kansas. SNOW IS MELTING FAST!!

Well folks I thought I would post and let you all know we did not lose our power during the storm this time. We were ready though just in case. We got sleet and a little Ice here Thursday night and Friday morning then by noon Friday it was snowing BIG FLAKES here at the ranch. It snowed all afternoon and up into the night Friday. We got over 6 inches of snow here at the ranch. I have posted pic's of us getting ready for the storm and I took pic's every few hours during the storm to share with everyone. I had a lot of fun taking pic's of all the BEAUTIFUL snow scenery. The pic's really don't show all the Beauty though. The Lord sure has Blessed us and continues to Bless us with so much Awesome scenery here at the ranch. As my hubby always says the pictures just don't do it justice. There is days I look out across the ranch and just PRAISE GOD he gave me such a Awesome view.

Tomorrow is a big day for us. We are going to get the 2 new additions to the ranch in the morning. Don and I are getting 2 more horses. Paso Fina / Fox trotter gelding 3 years old and a little paso fina / fox trotter Filly (she is right at 1 years old). They are in VERY BAD living conditions right now but after today they will have a good home here at the ranch. I will be posting pic's of them for you all to see the progress. We are leaving the ranch by 8 in the morning to drive 2 hours to get them,Then we will go by the vet's office for their all spectrum worming and wellness physical. We already know they are in bad shape but we will have them nursed back to good health and have them fat and sassy before you know it. Well folks I hope you enjoy the pic's of the storm. WAITING FOR THE STORM!!!!

Well folks We have spent the morning here at the ranch getting ready for the BIG ICE STORM to come in!!! We have got the generator out and up here by the house, The hay out for the horses, The BIG rocks put in the back of the pick up for weight, all the oil lamps are full of lamp oil, Fresh batteries in the flash lights, The small heaters in the living room, 20 gallons gas for the generator and we are ready to go. I am headed for work here in just a bit and if the roads get too bad i will be staying in town tonite with a friend. Well gotta get off here and get around. just wanted to let you all know we are prepaired and will be okay!!! God is watching over us!!!! Well thought I would post and let everyone know we are all okay here at the ranch. We had that cold snap and then it warmed up on us. So we took advantage of the warmer weather and got out to do some riding and picking up some rocks for the patio while the weather was good. The past few days have been cooler and rainy though. I guess Max got cold Thursday morning after feeding cause he came back in the house and bundled up under the blanket on the couch and that is where he stayed for awhile. The first picture I posted is of him. Our son Richard came out yesterday (Saturday) and brought his Austrailian shephard Rosco. Him and Max played for a long time. The second picture I posted is of Rosco getting on the floor getting down to max's level. LOL. Max is so much smaller than him and he was very good with max and very gentle when playing with him. In fact I think max was rowdier than Rosco.He was so excited cause he had company too. The other 3 pictures was taken this morning at the trail ride. we got there early and got saddled up the first two are of mine and the hubbies horses ready to ride. Then the third pic is of us all taking a break on the forest service road we were riding on. Man oh man with the cooler weather and all the horses being fed so much protein cause of the cooler weather they all were full of spunk this morning. They were ready to kick up them heals that's for sure. some of us had a fun ride there at the start.They really wanted to go go go. My horse kicked her butt up cause I got some new saddle bags for Christmas and I have only used them on her 2 times. I have used saddle bags on her before but these hang down on her farther in the flank area and she was not use to them. Man did I ever have a ride there for a bit. Well anyway we had a wonderful ride with a bunch of wonderful people and that is what makes it all good. We had 17 riders with 16 horses. Little Brooklyn road on the back of Savanah with her daddy. I will post a pic of them in my albums go check them out. I have pic's of last weekends ride and of this weekends ride. I am going to post them in my albums so you all check them out and enjoy. We are already making plans for camping and riding this spring. Woooooooooo HOOOOOOOOOOO I can't wait. I will have so many good pic's to share with you all. It's has been one year today since the Lord called mom home. We do miss her so much, But as my brother bill said on his blog we would not make her come back to this ole earth if we could. folks it is sunny and warmer today here at the ranch and we are loving it. In fact it is suppose to warm up all week. So you know what that means HOPEFULLY it means a trail ride this week. I do know it means we have to get out here and pick up more rocks for the patio. But right now the hubby just came in and told me we have to put out a bale of hay before I go to work and it is 1:30 and I need to leave at 2 so better get off here and go help. ICE ON THE POND! BURR IT'S COLD!!!

Well folks for the first time this year the pond is frozen over. The temperatures here at the ranch right now are in the teens with the wind chill in the single digits. Now for the Arkansas river valley that's COLD! The hubby and I just got done putting on a big ole pot of deer stew.We put it in the crock pot and will let it cook today and all night on low. Then in the morning I will get up and start a big batch of home made dinner rolls to go with it. Then we will get to have stew and home made dinner rolls for lunch tomorrow. UMMMMMM I can't wait. The horses were running all over the pasture, bucking and kicking. I guess that is their way of staying warm. They were just running and playing. I was standing at the window watching them and thinking "This cold weather does not worry them at all". Here we been trying to figure out for the past week how we was going to keep them warmer during this cold snap and it isn't even bothering them. Heck we went as far as buying little snacks to hang in the barn so they would stay in the barn more. Well anyway folks it is cold cold cold here at the ranch. The wind is really blowing right now. I believe it is suppose to stay this way for a few days. Thought I would share the pic of the pond that I took this morning. It is frozen over with a thin layer of ice. Well folks it is cold cold cold for us here at the ranch. We have a trace of snow her today as you can tell by the picture i posted earlier for my brother and his wife Roxi. That was a joke for them. Since they are in northwest missouri and have 16 inches of snow on the ground right now.

This is a picture of my brother Bill the day after Christmas trying to shovel a path out to the road. They have got more snow since then too and the temp's are around 8 above zero so none of it is melting off. Now folks that's some snow! The picture just above it is a picture I took of the moon shining in our front door on new years night. The picture just above that is Hugh and Don looking at Hugh's new horse trailer. We are all ready now to go camping this spring. Don and I have our trailer and now Hugh has one he can sleep in so we are set. Anyway there has not been a lot going on around the ranch just same ole stuff. We had a wonderful Christmas and we are glad it is over. We have been doing some trail riding but not enough. It has been pretty cold though.Can't wait till January is over and maybe we will get some days up in the 50's for trail riding. Of course we go when it is cooler but we don't get to enjoy it as much. Well folks I am going to get off here for now. I will start keeping up with posting again. I kind of started slacking for awhile. Sorry! Hope you all have a wonderful spirit filled day! God Bless!

What a weekend!

Well folks we got our tractor this weekend finally. We bought Tangled Mane Ranch 2 years and 7 1/2 months ago. It is 16 1/2 acres with 14 acres for horse pasture. When we bought the ranch it was just the land with a fence around it and a pond. Well since we bought it we moved our single wide 16 by 60 single wide mobile home onto the property to live in, we have built a barn some of it new material and some of it used off of chicken houses that were being tore down, We have put a fence along the drive way, put a fenced in area around the house, tried to get some of the fence line cleaned out, Oh my oh my I could go on and on. There has been alot of work here at the ranch though since we bought it. We were to the point where we really needed a tractor. We had decided that we would start pricing the packaged deals and figure out what were going to have to do to get one. Well of course I knew that the main most important thing I could do was PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. So that is what i started doing. I told the Lord to let his will be done, Let us be able to come up with what ever we was going to have to come up with to get a tractor. I told him to just show us the way. Well folks he could not have made it much clearer for us. Thursday Don called around pricing packages then we talked about it friday morning and decided which one we was going to go for. So Don on on the phone with Perrin and Gray equipment sales from Fort Smith, AR the man took the credit app over the phone. He said he would call us back in a hour or so and let us know what they can do for us. Well I had to leave for work so I just prayed all the way to work for Gods will to be done. Well about 4 P.M Don called me at work and said they were going to deliver the tractor the next morning (Saturday) at 8 or 9. We didn't even figure we would get one with out a down much less get one the next day. We were figuring it to be Feb. before we could get one. We had started calling cause we wanted to know how much money we had to save up for our down. Well anyway they delivered the tractor yesterday morning and we feel So Blessed. We really needed this tractor. The top pic is Don signing the papers, the next pic is just before they unloaded it, and the last two pic's is them unloading the tractor. Today I went to church and had to run errands after church so didn't get to take pic's of Don using the tractor for the first time. But I will get some pic's posted for you of us using the tractor here on the ranch. We unloaded it yesterday and we trail riding so he didn't get to use it yesterday. But today he started moving some big rocks up on the dam of the pond and tomorrow the dozier will be here to clear the creek and fix the pond. We have alot of plans for that tractor and are getting started right away on them. Well anyway I just had to share with you all how God has Blessed our lives this week. Well folks not alot going on around there today. Don and I have been on this computer this morning looking at tractors. We really need one and we are fixing to get one of our payments paid off in January so we are looking for something that we can do a little dirt work and we have to have a brush hog with it. I guess we are going to go to town tomorrow and talk to a guy about one. We are hoping to have a tractor by spring.
Well anyway I would like to ask you all to keep a young man Sam Kieth and his family in your prays. Sam's mom was in a accident with 3 teens that had been drinking yesterday evening. The last I knew they were life flighting her to Little Rock and they did not expect her to live. I have not heard anything today but please keep them in your prayer. Also the boys that were driving the other car and their families need our prayers too.

Good hot chocolate day here at the ranch

Well good morning folks I am sure our deer hunters are liking this cooler weather for their hunting season. Last weekend when the season started they were sitting in deer stands sweating it was so warm. The deer were not moving alot then. But now!They sure were shooting alot for the deer to not be moving. LOL. Yesterday morning Don and I were sitting here doing alot of nothing and heard a knock on the door. When I went to answer it Ronnie Kieth one of our dear friends was at the door and he had got his deer. I am sharing a picture I took of it of course out little dog max was checking it out too. He got it just behind our house here in the national forest just behind us. We was so excited for him and was so glad he stopped by to show us. We didn't even see him go in back there yesterday morning. But we heard him shoot when he shot it. I told Don when we heard the shots that someone had just got a deer back there. Anyway he got him a nice 8 point buck yesterday morning. He was getting pretty discouraged he said cause he had not had much luck all week long and it had been so warm. Yesterday morning was actually the first cool morning since the season started and they were moving around more I guess. Well anyway other than that not alot going on here at the ranch. Well all not alot going on here at the ranch this morning. We went out and fed the horses and groomed them. Then we came in and I started working on some Christmas gifts I am making. Then I thought maybe I should balance my check book since I had not done that in a week. Now Don is watching the history channel on tv and I am getting ready to go fix lunch and get things ready to go to work today. It is a cool rainy day here at Tangeld Mane so we are just taking it easy today. Hope you all have a wonderful spirit filled week. God Bless!

How time flies!

Hello to all again. It has been so long since I have posted and I am so very sorry. We started getting some Beautiful weather so we started our fall and winter riding season. Oh how Blessed we are to have such ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL country here in the Arkansas River Valley. Some of the scenery we see on the trails is just breath taking and no picture will do it justice. You just have to get out there on them trails and in them woods to experience the Beauty of it. I do try to share it with those of you that can not get out there in it though by posting pic's for you to enjoy. If you will notice at the bottom of the page I have added a slide show of our trail riding Labor day weekend at Macks pines camp in Dover, AR. We broke camp at Macks pines camp on Sunday afternoon and our friends Don and Wakana came to the ranch and set up camp here at the ranch. We went riding on our beautiful trails we have here on Monday Labor day. I also put some of them pictures in the slide show. Since then we have had alot of good friends come out and ride with us. Noah and Linda came up one weekend and we took them up the trail just across the road from the ranch. I have wanted Linda to ride that trail with us for sometime now. She just loved it just like I knew she would. Wow what Beautiful country the Lord has given us. Folks I feel like I am so Blessed to have the access to the AWESOME AWESOME scenery we have here at Tangled Mane Ranch. My horse babygirl had a spot come up on her shoulder that was bruised very very bad. So I could not ride her for a month. I had to borrow a horse from a friend that was nice enough to trust me with one or their horses. Wow was she a wonderful wonderful horse. She is a 16 year old Missouri Fox trotter bay mare and man does she gait. But no matter how great the other horse is when you have a bond with your own horse you miss riding that horse when you can't. I really missed my babygirl. I tell you my babygirl is AWESOME! I finally got to ride her last weekend for the first time in 5 weeks. I was jumping with joy! I think she was too!! LOL! Well anyway a big THANK YOU to Gary and LouAnn for letting me borrow Chappa!

On Thursday October 24th we flooded here at the ranch. I was at work and Don called me and said "You might as well find somewhere to stay in town cause our farm looks like a river is running through it"we had to 6 1/2 inches of rain in 2 hours. He said the water was running over the Dam of the pond and washing it out. The fences were washing out cause of all the water and debris running through our farm and the Low water bridge is covered there was no way anyone was going to cross it. The Road was washed out it looked like there was not even a road there. So guess what I found a Motel room and stayed in town that night. Friday morning I got up and thought maybe I would head out towards the ranch and see if there was anyway I might be able to get in to the ranch on foot. Wow what a mess it was. I couldn't get to the ranch but I got as far as the arena. Don was standing on one side of the water and I was standing on the other. We were talking via our cell phones and we decided it was still rushing too hard to try to get in. He told me that if it didn't go down by the time I got off work that night that I could stay in town one more night and he would saddle my horse and bring her to me to ride across Saturday morning. Well Friday night when I got off work at 10:45 we decided I could get across the water just wasn't sure about getting up our road But I have a F150 Pick up and it is pretty tall. The road was gone and Don walked down to the bridge to meet me and help me try to get up to the house with my pick up. Well we made it in but I knew if the county didn't do something to the road that weekend I would not make it back out. But the next morning the county was out there right at daylight fixing the road where it was passable. It still is not fixed completely, but it is passable. The foothills arena had about 3 foot of water in it. they have a 200 stall barn and it washed Mud and debris up into the barn and washed out some of the boards in the barn. They have a cafe in the arena and it was all standing under water and Mud. It was just over whelming. Well needless to say. We have to get a dozer out here to fix the washouts in the pasture and fix the pond. We have to have that pond cause we do not have a good enough well to water the horses all the time.So we have a dozer coming this week to get the work done. Now folks that's not cheap! Our friend Noah came out on his day off one day and helped us do some cleaning around here. He brought his 4 wheeler out to drag the brush so that we didn't have to do it by hand. THANK YOU NOAH!!!!! Well anyway we are trying to get things picked up and cleaned up around here. Don and I went riding last weekend and just took a break from it all. we also went riding yesterday. With it being opening day of rifle season for deer we decided to just ride the gravel roads so we did and we had a wonderful ride. I will put a slide show of the flood pic's that we got on here as soon as I can get them all uploaded to my picasa web album. Just be patient with me folks I am still dealing with dial up internet here. Well anyway I am going to get off here and start working on a Christmas gift I am making for someone. Where to start?????????

Well folks it has been awhile since I have posted and I really don't know where to start. We have been pretty busy and I really have not had time to get on the computer. But I will try to be better about posting and keeping people up to date on what is going on around the ranch. I am going to try to get some pictures of labor day weekend ride posted in my picture albums to share with you all. I also have some good pitures from the ride we went on down at Mt. Magazine last weekend. We have rode down there before and they really have some nice trails down there. Labor day weekend we went to Mack's pines camp just north of Dover Ar and just about 10 miles south of Bogger holler, AR. We got there Saturday morning and as soon as we got the horses unloaded and in the barn a storm rolled through and it poured down rain. We all got just soaked trying to get the trailer backed in to the camp site. But then after the storm come through it cleared off and we had a absolutely Beautiful day for riding. We rode all day Saturday and Sunday there at the camp. Then Sunday evening our friends the Higgin's came to the ranch and hooked up their camper here. We had a really good diner together and had a good visit Sunday evening. Then Monday morning (Labor day) we saddled up and took them on a ride over to the lake and back. We had a Gread visit and a Great time with them. I hope we can do it again some time. Anyway it was a wonderful weekend.

Then last Thursday we finally got a break in the rain and Don, Max (the dog) and I head out on the horses for a short ride before I had to go to work. We rode up the trail across Highway 103 just across from the arena in front of our house. Anyway it is so BEAUTIFUL back in there with the water running through the streams from all the rain. and everything is so green and pretty right now. Then Saturday we headed for Mt. Magazine to ride with friends. We have some friends that have a Beautiful farm down there and we ride in the national forest. Well anyway we rode about 7 1/2 hours Saturday and then went back to Fran and Mindy's farm for a bon fire in the fire ring and brats, hamburgers and Chili in the pavillion. Wow did we ever have a good time.

In between all the fun we have been having riding we have been trying to get the pasture brush hogged and Hugh keeps breaking the brush hog (lol). Oh yea and we built a rock fire ring out in the back yard for cooking out there. plus all the mowing and cutting up the tree that feel on the fence back in the spring when we had the tornadoes around there. We have plenty of fire wood by the way. Now we are getting ready to start trying to build my chicken house, clean the fence line, put up a clothes line for me, build a lean too off of the barn and paint the barn. I think we have enough to keep us busy right here at the ranch.

I got some good news at work yesterday also. Praise the Lord the president of the company come down yesterday to announce that our plant is getting a product line. This product is not new to Baldor but is new to our plant. While he was there he told us that we would not have anymore 4 day work weeks clear up to the end of the year. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I tell you them 4 day weeks get pretty rough financially after you do as many of them as we have done this year. Everyday I miss work it cost me 120.00 and you take that times 4 weeks a month and that will pay alot of my bills. Well anyway Praise God we are have some work to do. I am just thankful I still have my job and I work for a company that cares about me the peon. Well I guess I better go give them my best today so I will post more later. Saturday Hugh, Don and I went trail riding of course. The weather was absolutely beautiful for riding. We rode all day long and it never did get real hot. Now folks this is still August in Arkansas and we have had the windows open for 3 days. In fact the temps at night have been getting down in the mid 60's. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining at all. In fact I LOVE IT! Yesterday morning I was just being lazy laying on the couch doing nothing and Don said "why don't we go for a trail ride". Well it did not take me long at all to get up and get ready. The weather was absolutely beautiful again yesterday too. We rode a trail that cuts off the main trail to the lake. It needs some work done on it we got alot of stuff cleaned off of it yesterday in fact we cleaned on it till we got to a spot where there is some BIG tree's down over the trail. We will have to get a chain saw after them. I am planning a trail cleaning ride. We are going to get some of these trails around here cleaned up and marked because we have some really nice riding around here but the trails just need some work done on them. So far it has just been Hugh, Don and I working on them and usually once a month we have a trail cleaning day. I would really like to get more people involved in helping us. We have alot of good folks that ride with us and I know they will help. So all you reading this I will let you know the date and hope you can make it. We will all have fun while cleaning. Then back to the ranch for a BBQ. Even if you don't have horses bring the 4 wheelers you can carry the chain saws for us. Everyone is invited!!!!!! This week we will be busy trying to get things ready for the big labor day weekend at Macks pines horsecamp. 3 full days of fun filled trail riding, camp fire cooking and visiting with friends. We are all looking forward to it and it looks like the weather is going to be great for the event too. Well I guess I better get off here and get some stuff done. This is where Don and I took our break yesterday evening We are on top of the mountain across from the ranch. Looking down on the Ranch. That clear spot is Tangled Mane Ranch.

Saturday Don and Hugh went for a ride. I didn't get to go cause I had to work Friday night and they left out at sunrise Saturday morning. So I stayed home and went to town to get the errands done. I also hit some yard sales for it was BARGAINS GALORE ON 64 this past weekend. That is a big event that is always the 2ND weekend of August. It is 130 miles of yard sales on Highway 64. It runs all the way from Fort Smith to Conway Arkansas. There is people from all over the U.S that comes to this event. But man on man is it ever hot hot hot. This year was better than the past few years has been though. It was only in the mid 90's this year and it is usually in the triple digits this time of year. I found a quilt top for our sleeping quarters in our horse trailer. everything is done to it all I have to do is put the border on it. I also found 3 nice strings of Christmas lights. I didn't get alot but I had alot of fun hopping from yard sale to yard sale. Of course I just went right here in Clarksville. There is alot of people that will do the whole thing in 3 days. I am not that into yard sales to be out in that heat for 3 straight days. One of my friends from Ozark told me that Thursday they yard saled from 6 that morning till 8 that night. Wow now folks that's dedicated. Well anyway Don and Hugh seen a bunch of bear tracks up on top of the mountain and they also seen a bob cat while riding Saturday. Of course they didn't have the camera with them.But they said it was walking across the trail and it just stopped and sit down and watched them for a bit then it just got up and walked off. I am sure if I would have been with them I would have been scared to pieces. But I tell you folks it is absolutely wonderful and so relaxing to see some of the stuff we see when riding. Well I better get off here and get ready for work. I am getting around a little late today I still have alot to do before I leave. Hope you all have a spirit filled day! God Bless!

Well folks there just is not alot going on around here today. I have to leave for work in about 45 minutes, But other than that Don and I have just been laying around today. After we got back in from feeding this morning we started watching tv and we been sitting in front of it everysince. Well except to fix lunch. I am not feeling well today so figured I better save my energy for work this evening. FINALLY GOT SOME RAIN HERE AT THE RANCH

Well it was getting pretty dry around here though we have had more rain this year than we have in the past 5 years. In fact it rained on my birthday July 21st this year and I have not seen it do that since the family and I moved down here into the arkansas river valley in 2001. But anyway yesterday evening we got some pretty good thunderstorms that packed alot of rain with them. Praise the Lord!!!! Now I just wish it would cool things down to about 75 and I will be a happy camper. That is the best trail riding weather. This morning Don and I were in the barn feeding and while they were eating we was grooming the horses. I was grooming Miss priss and she kicked out at me, Of course I quickly let her know that was not acceptable. I cant wait for it to cool off and we are going to get them all 3 in the round pen and start working on some manners. It seems like every year about this time they seem to forget what manners is. So every fall we have to have a refresher course. But they are not getting worked with like they need to be during the hot time of the year. Don or I neither one can stand the heat. Well anyway it won't last long and we will be back into our routine with riding and working with the horses. Well all I have to get off here and call sears to order a part for the chain saw. I just wanted to share some pic's of the reception with everyone. I have promised some of you that I work with I would post them this weekend and didn't get it done. But here they are now. We had a GREAT time at the reception and we also got to spend a little bit of time with Donald and Adina while we were there. Ashlee straightened Adina's hair for her for the reception and she looked so cute. I finally got home about 4 A.M Saturday morning and wow was I tired. Saturday I had to go to town and get some errands done and then I feel asleep on the couch about 8 that night. Yesterday Don and I waited till it started cooling down outside and we went out to cut up a tree that got knocked partially down in a storm we had about 2 months ago. Well that didn't go so good. The tree that was knocked down was hung up in the top of another tree that was dead so we decided we would cut down the big ole dead tree also. Well we did right onto the fence and we knocked down one of our real nice little pine trees too. On top of all that the chain saw was acting up and wouldn't start so we finally gave up and come in the house about dark. We will have to go out and finish it up later. We gotta get the chain saw fixed first. Well that's about all the excitement I can tell you about right now. Hope you all have a wonderful, Spirit filled day!!!!!!!!! I gotta get ready for work. I know I know it is July in Arkansas but still. Does it just have to get so hot that you can't step outside? Well there is my grip for the day folks. Not much going on here at the ranch just wanted to check in while I was on this crazy computer and let you all know we are still here. I have alot of projects going but none going in full swing yet so no interesting news here. I will try to post more this weekend I Gotta get off here and get lunch before I leave for work. FINALLY GOT SOME RAIN!!!!

Praise The Lord we woke up this morning and it was raining. I rained most of the morning pretty hard too. It is very unusual for us to get rain in July at all much less this late in July. But man oh man I am not complaining. We were fixing to have to go buy hay already cause the grass was browning up and if we would not have gotten any rain our pasture would have been brown by the end of next week and there would have been the added expense of extra hay for the year. Well hopefully it Will green things back up and we will have pasture till December again this year. Other than that there is not much going on here at the ranch lately. I gotta get around and get ready for work here in just a bit. The horses are all doing well. We went for a trail ride last Sunday and the weather was just Beautiful for riding. I went to Eben's birthday party (my grandson) last Saturday and we had a really good time. I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pic's to share with everyone. We have really had some nice weather lately so Don and I have been working on getting all the lights on his pickup and the horse trailer going so that when Labor day weekend gets here we can head off for Pineville, MO for a weekend of camping with friends and trail riding. Just piddling around today.

Don and our friend Hugh went for a trail ride this morning and I stayed home. That does not happen to often now folks. I love to ride my horse every chance I get. But this time of year it gets so hot so fast and I get overheated pretty quick. Then I get sick. So I chose to stay home today. They left out at about 6 this morning and they got back to the ranch about 11. It was pretty hot when they got back but had not topped out yet. At 5 o'clock this evening on the weather it was 99 degrees with 112 heat index. Now folks that's hot. Well anyway I just stayed home and cleaned the house. It has been a long time since I cleaned the living room like I did today. Then when I got done with the living room I sewed and made me a outfit with a blouse and a pair of Capri pants. Now I am just sitting here playing on the computer as the sun goes down here at the ranch. Not alot going on around here right now it is just too hot. But we are trying to get ready for when the fall trail riding season kicks off. We are getting things done to the pickups and to the trailer so that when everyone starts calling and wanting to go we will be ready. Our new little horse Miss Priss is doing real well. I am hoping to get her in the round pen and maybe ride her some this fall. I will have to see when it cools off enough to get her in the round pen and start working her. For those of you that do not know what a round pen is you can barely see it in the pic I posted but it is the panels down by the barn. I still gotta get that barn painted too. We are so glad to have it though. We have big tack room and two stalls in there. With a feed trough and a hay manger. We are so happy with it. We still have work to do to it but for now it will have to work cause it is just too hot to work out there. Well anyway folks I believe I am going to go for now. I am so ready for the weekend!

I am going to make this post short tonite cause I am tired. I have been working days this week and as most of you know that is not my shift I normally work. But Baldor takes 2 vacation shut downs every year and July 4Th is one of the and the second one is in November at Thanksgiving. This year they decided not to make it a vacation shut down it is just a shut down so everyone that did not work was able to draw unemployment for that week. Most people had already drawn out their vacation pay because of working the reduced hours. So drawing the unemployment was the only way they could get paid for that week. It was very good of the company to do that for their employees cause they sure didn't have too. They could have said "I cant help it of you don't have any vacation money left" and just left us all hanging. But they didn't. Baldor is a GREAT company to work for. Well anyway my department was behind schedule and they wanted one volunteer to work this week and I can make more money working than I can drawing unemployment. With the wolf knocking at the door for bill collectors I figured I better work if I could. So I have been working days and I just am not use to it. But I got 40 hours this week praise the Lord. That helps keep the utilities on and food on the table. Not sure what the work schedule will be like after shut down, but I sure do hope we keep working 5 days a week. It is doubtful but very hopeful. My son Richard told me the other day "mom I know you gotta pay bills and all but some times you gotta reward yourself and just take some of that paycheck and do something fun with it". Well that is true but the paychecks are barely keeping the utilities on and if I spend any extra I won't have utilities so I feel like I am rewarded for my hard work. I eat good and I have alot of stuff that some people don't have the privilege of having. Praise God!
Not much other news to tell you right now. It is blistering hot around the ranch and is suppose to be for at least the next week. But then it always is this time of year until about the last of September. Well I am going to get off here and go to bed for tonite. God Bless!!!

The other morning I was sitting on the front porch enjoying the quiet before I had to get busy for the day. I was listening to the neighbors chickens crowing, the humming birds flying around and watching the horses graze out in the pasture. It was then that I realized I needed to be so very Thankful for everything I have here. This ranch might not be much to alot of people but man it is absolutely wonderful to us. There is just not alot of things that are more relaxing and enjoyable than sitting here looking out at the mountains and listening to the sounds of farm animals and birds and watching the horses graze. I have to say Thank You Lord everytime I get a few minutes to just stop and look at what we have here.

Well enough of all that. The picture of the old store is just down the road from the ranch. Everytime I have drove past it I said I really need to get a picture of it. Well the other day I was coming home from town and had the camera in the pick up with me so I stopped and got a picture to share with you all. I just love old buildings like this one. There is so many of the around this area too. I do not know much history on the store but I will find some out and post it at a later date. Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Other things that are going on here at the ranch! Well let me see. We are still working with our new little mare Miss Priss. She is doing ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL as far as ground work goes with her. I can't work her in the round pen right now cause she got kicked by big ole brute babygirl (my black and white horse) that is twice her size the other day. So she is limping pretty bad in the left front shoulder. Right now I am just rubbing all over her and leaning over her back and just playing all over and around her. She just stands there like "this is no big deal". I can practicly crawl on her back and she doesn't budge a bit. Man oh man she is gentle folks. We had the farrier out today and that was a different story though. She has never been worked with as far as picking up her feet. Don and I have been working with her for the past two weeks since we got her but she still has a long ways to go. Well anyway after wrestling her around the tree a few times they finally got her back feet trimmed. They said she just stood there for the front ones. But when we got her, her back legs were pretty cut up and you could tell they had been sore for awhile so I figure she will be touchy with them for a bit. Till she finds out we are not going to hurt them and make them sore agian. Well anyway she is a great little horse and I have just fell in love with her. So I guess I will keep her around in case if any of the grandkids decide they want to ride.

Wow! Folks it has been a long time Sorry.

Well where do I start. I am posting a picture of the new horse we just got. She is a 3 year old quarter horse bay mare. She is suppose to be breed but we are not sure yet. I guess if I don't take her for a ultra sound we will find out for sure around December. The guy we got her from is our neighbor and he had gotten her given to him from a guy he works with. I guess the original owner of her is getting a divorce and had to thin out his heard. So he gave this little mare to our neighbor Jeremiah. He didn't know alot about her just that she is 3 years old and they think she might be breed. He didn't know when she was breed or nothing. I guess the guy Jeremiah got her from told him that she had gotten in with the stud. Jeremiah was under the understanding that it had just been recently. So if that is the case we won't know till around December and will probably have a March or April baby. A horse carries their foals 11 months. She is so very gentle. She is very quick to learn and she loves to be crawled all over. She will let me just crawl all over her. I am going to try to saddle her before long. But for right now we are going to spend lots of time desensitising her. She is going to be a great horse. She is not gaited but I think I will keep her for the kids to ride. She will make a great kids horse. Well I am sure you all know what I have been up to then. This morning Don, Hugh and I went for a ride over to the lake and back. Then Don and Hugh finished brush hogging and I went to town to eat bbq burgers, tattor salad and pasta salad with Richard, Ashley and the boys and Ashleys parents Danny,Debbie and Ashleys neice Shea. Richard cook so of course the food was GREAT! We really had a good visit. Well folks I am going to sign off here for tonite and I will post tomorrow. I have more pic's I want to share with you all of my humming birds and the horses and farm but will post them tomorrow. STORMS BLEW THROUGH AND WE WERE OUT OF POWER FOR A DAY!.

Max cooling off after a power outage

We had a pretty powerful storm blow through here at the ranch Friday. I was in town doing my grocery shopping and Don called me to find out where I was at. He said that the Satellite had already went out here at home and that there was a bad storm heading our way. I ask him if I should try to make it home. He said ABSOLUTELY NOT go on to wal mart and get out of that pick up. So I went to Walmart and started my shopping. I was in there for just a few minutes and they announced a code black in the store. That means get all the customers to the designated tornado spot in the store. So here we are in walmart sitting on the floor with our heads covered with our hands. Folks when that straight line wind hit there I thought it was going to take the roof off walmart. It did really tear the town of Clarksville up. There was roofs of stores blown off and debris and trees every where. Well after the storm went through I went ahead and finished my shopping. Then when I went to leave a discovered that I had locked my keys in my pick up. Well it took Don and our friend Hugh about a hour to get to me cause there was stuff in the roads and there was cops directing traffic everywhere once they got to town. Well anyway they got to me and we got the pick up unlocked. When the storm rolled through it knocked the power out here at the ranch. There was four trees down on the lines between here and town. We have a pretty new generator it is a 6000 watt and we have had to use it twice this past week cause of storms. Well Friday it was not running right So we had to deal with trying to keep it running right. Well needless to say I am going to tell them to take it back and find out what is wrong with it. Finally we did get it to work right and we was glad cause they did not get our power back on till yesterday afternoon late. It got in the 90's here yesterday and the humidity was 83%. The picture above is max as soon as the power came on and we got the generator shut off and started the AC. He just came straight in the house and plopped down on the AC vent and took a nap. So the picture is of max cooling off after a power outage. Today we went on a trail ride down in the Wachita national forest Down on Mount Magazine. In fact we rode to the Wall that is in the Lonesome D horse camp pictures we just came into the Wall from the other direction. It was a really nice ride and then we went back to Fran and Mindy's house and Had a bbq and a really nice Visit with everyone. I got to ride with the people that bought my fox trotter Savanah and she is doing great and is spoiled rotten. I got some pic's of her while we were riding today. She is the Palamino with the Man (Chris) and the Little girl (Brook) on here. Well anyway I am going to upload them pic's to a album for you all to go look at but for right now I am going to get off here and go take my shower and get on the P.J's cause 4 o clock was very early this morning so I am going to relax on the couch tonite and watch some T.V. Don and I cooked Lasagna in the dutch oven outside for dinner this evening and then topped it off with a strawberry milk shake. (There goes my diet)lol

This is where I spent my afternoon cleaning saddles and getting them oiled up.

We started the day here at Tangled Mane Ranch feeding and grooming horses. Then we finished the hay manger we been building in the barn. We are getting the barn done slowly but surely. We still have to insulate the roof and paint it inside and out. We also have to make stall doors to seperate the two stalls and the outside door going into the stalls. Then we will need to get working on organizing the tack room. If we ever get done with the barn we are going to start on our rock patio and fire pit. Don and I love to cook with our dutch ovens and charcoal. Our fire pit we are going to build is going to have a pit for cooking over the open fire and a pit for cooking with charcoal or we can just throw some burgers on the grill part too. Don and I limit our use of the inside stove in the summer time. We live in a single wide trailer with a metal roof so it doesnt take long for things to heat up in here when we turn that stove on. So we cook outside on the grill or in the dutch ovens with charcoal in the grill. It saves on our light bill cause the ac is not running constantly and we get some ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS food. Well anyway that about sums up the day here at the ranch. I am going to get off here and try to get my pic's uploaded in my albums for you all to see. Have a GREAT night. GOD BLESS!

CATCHING YOU ALL UP ON WHATS BEEN GOING ON AROUND THE RANCH

Well lets see where do I start. As you can see I am showing off some pic's of a couple of the Grandbabies. The top picture is Melissa and her daughter Erika. The came to the hospital to see Laura While we were awaiting Little Kortney to join us in this ole world. Little Erika looks just like Melissa did when she was that age. For those of you that do not know Laura and Melissa are twins. The second picture is of Our Little Kortney Elizabeth she was born May 27th, 2009 at 4:42 P.M. she weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 19 inches long. This picture was taken just about 5 minutes after she was born. That was a very busy week for us. Of course I had to work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of that week. It all started Monday I had to start getting things ready to go to Lonesome D horsecamp. Then Tuesday I had to take Laura to Fort Smith to the doctor. He told her to be at the hospital Tuesday night to check in and that they would induce her Wednesday morning. So I went on to work Tuesday night and Wednesday morning about 6 the phone rang and it was Laura. She was a nervous wreck and she said Mom they are coming in to give me the potosin in about 15 minutes. Well I live about a hour from Fort Smith and she was scared I would not make it in time. So I got dressed and headed to the hospital. They gave her the potosin and the doctor came in to see her about 8. They broke her water at noon that day and she layed there sleeping between contractions till about 4 p.m. Then at exactly 4 she woke up and said "Mom I have to push". She started pushing and she had our little Kortney at 4:42. Things went so good for her and Kortney is a very healthy baby. She weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 19 inches long. I got home late Wednesday night. Then I got up Thursday and had to finish getting things together for the 3 day trip to lonesome D. Then I had to work Thursday night. Friday we took off for Lonesome D Horsecamp. We got there about 12:30 and set up camp. Then when Hugh and Logan and the Alston family got there we all went for a trail ride. Then we went back to camp and sat around the fire to visit. Saturday morning we got up, had breakfast and set out on the trails again. We rode about all day then we went back to the camp and cooked dinner over the camp fire and visited. Sunday morning we got up and took off on the trail agian.We rode till about 2 sunday afternoon then went back to camp and packed up to come home. We had to go around the camp and say our Happy Trails to everyone and then we headed home. When we got home and got the horses unloaded I was beat. So I layed down and took a nap. Monday we unloaded the camper and got things cleaned up and put back for the next time. Tuesday I had a doctor appointment and then Wednesday Laura and I took Kortney back to the doctor for her one week check up. Thursday I had to try to clean house a little bit and then Friday Laura, Kortney and I spent the day in Ozark running around. We went to a yard sale in Ozark and I bought a food dehydrator brand new still in the box that had never been opened for 5.00. Don and I are going to fix some fruit tonight and then next week we are going to try our hand at beef jerky. The jerky making is actually why we have been wanting one. They are pretty expensive though. I feel like I hit the jack pot. Well anyway then today Don and I got up and hit the trail agian. We rode over to the lake and back. We were really wanting to see a bear. They are out pretty heavy right now. We seen alot of signs of a bear but we didnt get to see it. I had the camera ready thought just in case. There was bear track on the trail and we found alot of dead logs rolled over and alot of rocks rolled over. Which is signs of a bear eating bugs under the logs and rocks. I hope I can get a picture of one to share with you all sometime. Well that just about sums it up for what has been going on around the ranch. Don just came in and said it is about time to put the fruit in the dehydrator so I better get this posted and get back to work. It is a 3 horse slant load gooseneck trailer with a tack room in the back and dressing room in the front. It is a 1995 modle trailer so it is older but it is new to us and we love it. Just wanted to share some pictures of it with you all. Hope you enjoy. We are going to take it camping this weekend for our first time. We are looking forward to our little get away. Got a big week ahead of us

Well today is the end of my 5 days off and I am ready to go back to work and make some money. We have a very busy week ahead of us here at the ranch. In the morning I gotta go to Laura's Doctor appointment with her. Then I will come back home and get lunch then leave for work. Then Wednesday morning I have to be up at the hospital in Fort Smith by 8 A.M. For those of you that don't know it is about a hour drive from my house to Fort Smith, AR. But the doctor is going to induce Laura Wednesday morning about 8. So I will have some pictures of our little Kortney Elizabeth Belt to share with you by Wednesday night we are hoping. Then Thursday I will have to finish getting things ready for our weekend at lonesome D horse camp. I will be working Thursday evening and then Friday morning as soon as we get up and around we are leaving. We will not return till Sunday evening sometime. We have a friend that is going to stay here at the ranch while we are gone and make sure everything is okay. We are going to have a weekend of relaxing trail riding for 3 days. It will be GREAT! I will get alot of pic's to share with everyone.
Speaking of pic's I took some this monrning while we were in the barn feeding and messing with the horses. Don had to reset Sandy's 2 back shoes. It is amazing how still that horse stands when she knows Don is crawling up under her. This horse is so smart and is so amazing. For those of you who don't know my hubby Don is disabled and he has a real hard time shoeing the horses. In fact he really don't anymore. We have a regular farrier who is just wonderful. But sometimes Don does have to reset one or two shoes just to get us by till Ronnie can get to us. Both of our horses just stand there while he crawls all up under them and around them. Of course they have not always been that way. It has taken MANY MANY hours of work to get them spook free like they are. Well anyway while we were watching Don reset some shoes Babygirl (My horse) stuck her head over my shoulder and took a nap. Hope you all enjoy the pic's. This is our life and how we spend our time. I DON'T like spiders and snakes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge and Logan came up this morning and we took off on the trail. Wow what a absolutely BEAUTIFUL morning it was for riding. Well we got over to the lake and there was some one camping in the spot where we usually take our break and it was still early so we headed up a really nice trail called Sinclair holler trail. We got up the trail a ways and decided to go ahead and stop for a break. So everyone was standing there tying there horses up and here I am hitting my poor horse in the head with the lead rope and she is standing there looking at me like "what the heck are you crazy woman". My husband looked up at me and hollered "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". Well at that point I was so scared I could barely say "A SPIDER". Well he came over and knocked the huge spider off of my horses head and stepped on it. So we took our break and rode on. This trail is a beautiful trail and it crosses the creek many times then goes up to the top of the mountain. It is quite a ride. Well anyway we got up to the top of the mountain and we came upon a tree that was blocking the trail and really not a good way to get around so we just turned around and headed back. It was getting late anyway and we needed to turn around so we could get back tot he ranch before dark. Well we are riding down the trail and everyone is being kind of quiet my hubby Don on his horse is in front, then our little dog max, Me on my horse then, Logan on his horse and Hugh on his horse bringing up the tail of the pack. Well we were just riding along and all of a sudden I heard a unmistakable sound. I looked up just in front of me and my dog Max is jumping over the biggest rattlesnake I have ever seen. It is in the middle of the trail spread out across the trail and its head straight up in the air Just rattling and looking at me and my horse. NOW FOLKS I STOPPED BREATHING RIGHT THERE AND THEN!!!!!!!! I spun my horse around at the same time my hubby heard it and we headed back up the hill. He was down hill from it and the rest of us were up hill from it. I believe his horse stepped on its head when they rode by and man it was wound up. I was screaming and hollering and I lost my hat on the ground Logan got off his horse to pick it up and I was hollering for him to get off the ground and back on his horse. Well in the mean time Don My hubby got off his horse and got a big huge stick. He went back up to the snake and tried to get it off the trail. I just knew he was going to get bit. By this time my heart has stopped beating and I have not taken a breath for a few minutes. lol. Anyway Don shoved the snake off the trail and it rolled right back down in the middle of the trail. Of course at the time I didn't realize it had rolled I thought it was going after him. So he rolled it off the trail again and finally got it rolled up by a tree stump far enough off the trail that we could ride by him. Now folks I am not kidding a bit this snake was every bit of 4 foot long if not 5 foot and it was as big around as my wrists. It was huge!!!!!!!! I was so scared and I shook for a hour after that. I told my hubby We will be investing in a 22 to take with us from now on. I am sure everyone that might be on the side of that mountain knew I had come upon that snake before it was all over with. I was so scared! Of course we laughed about it all the way back home but man oh man when we came upon him it was not funny. Even my horse knew that snake meant business cause she didn't give me a bit of trouble when I turned her way from following her pasture buddy. she turned and ran. Well anyway I have been riding these trails up here in this national forest for 7 years now and we are lucky that is the only time it has happened. We have seen alot of snakes but not one just laying across the trail and wasnt going to give up his spot. Needless to say we had a VERY INTERESTING ride today. But all in all we had alot of fun and it was a beautiful day for riding. When we got home this evening it rained just a little bit and then all of sudden a big beautiful rainbow was in the sky so I wanted to share the pic's of another rainbow here at the ranch. Busy, Busy, Busy

Good evening to all! Wow have we been busier than a cat in a litter box around the ranch lately! I just don't know how people find the time to get on the computer everyday like all my friends do. Of course most of them don't live in the sticks and they have high speed Internet and not dial up too. So it don't take them as long to get on here and put a quick post on their blog, face book or my space either. Well I would not trade living in the sticks for high speed Internet anyway. I guess you all will have to settle for me just checking in on the weekend when I have time or if I happen to get the time to post before work. Which is not very often. Don and I plan our day before we go to bed at night. We keep ourselves pretty busy around here. I mean we do have plenty to keep us busy around here. Well enough of that. We have about got the horse trailer ready to put our camping stuff in the dressing room. We did get the mattress put back in it and I am going to get us some pillows to just leave in there. We have been trying to get my tiller running but I don't think that is going to happen. It is ancient and I believe I will be needing another one before I do any tilling. We are still working on the barn on the inside walls and putting insulation in it. This morning I got to go to my grandson Eben's publishing party at his school. He is in the 1st grade. His class has been writing a book and they got to read it to the parents and grandparents this morning at their publishing party. I tell you it was adorable. I really enjoyed it. I am so glad I got to go. Then when I got out of there My daughter Laura called from work and said she needed me to take her to the hospital to get checked out (She is 8 1/2 months pregnant). Well they ended up sending her home. But she is still having contractions so it will be any day now. Which is what her doctor has told her. She is having a little girl and they are naming her Kortney Elizabeth Belt. Well I better get off here and go visit with my hubby a bit. Well folks we got Laura's graduation over with and now we are just waiting for Kortney Elizabeth to come into this ole world. I posted some pic's that I took at the graduation last night. The cute little blonde that is setting in the chair and looking back at me is our granddaughter Erika Sue. She is Melissa's little girl. The one that is standing in the chair Is our little granddaughter Alexis. She is Nicole's little girl. Then I bet you guess right the big girl standing there in the cap and gown with the big belly (lol) is Laura. She was so glad to graduate and get college over with for now. She worked very hard and we are proud of her. Rick will be our next to graduate and I am sure he is looking forward to that. He still has a few years though cause he is going part time. Well anyway I wanted to share these photo's with you all. I got one of her taking her diploma but it was so dark in there it did not turn out very good. LAURA'S GRADUATION DAY IS HERE!

Well folks here it is May 16Th, 2009 and Laura will be graduating college with a medical transcriptionist degree. We are so excited for her. I will post some pic's this evening if I get home early enough. If not I will post some tomorrow. Her doctor told her the other day that the baby would be coming any day now. She is not due till June 4Th but he said she is not going to go till her due date. So we have been praying that little Kortney Elizabeth Belt would wait till after mommy's graduation to come into this ole world. So far she has cooperated with us on that one. But tonite is not here yet either. Well anyway we will welcome her with loving arms even if she does mess up mommy's graduation. I am ready for her to get here. Well gotta get for now. Sorry it has been so long since I posted. Man oh Man we have been busy just trying to get things done around here. We bought a new horse trailer. It is a 1995 gooseneck 3 horse slant load, with dressing room in the front and tack room in the back. It is a older trailer but we are very excited about it. Now we are trying to get some work done to it that needs to be done. We have some trail rides coming up toward the end of the month and we want to get it ready cause we will be camping also. The bed area is big enough for a king bed but we are going to put a full in there and make shelves in the extra room to put our clothes. I will get some pictures of it and post them I just don't have time to get them posted today. We tried to go on a trail ride yesterday (Mothers Day)because Don has tried to make it a mothers day tradition for us to go on a trail ride and picnic. But yesterday we got rained out. We got almost to the lake and decided the rain was set in for the day so we turned around and came home. I give him alot of credit for trying though. Our daughter Laura graduates from college next weekend so we are very excited about that. Then June 4th is when our little girl is due Kortney Elizabeth Belt. They told her she could go any time now though. We are all VERY VERY EXCITED about that. Well I guess I better get off here and quit rambling on. Hope you all have a Good Day! Happy Trails! Wow are we ever Soggy here at the ranch

Well folks it started raining here about a week ago and we have not seen the sun since them. In the past couple of days we have gotten so much rain the streets in town are being closed because of flooding and washing out. Yesterday morning we got out and went to town to get the things we would need for a couple of days cause our bridge is flooding. When we left the water was not quite over the bridge but about 2 hours later when we came home we barely got back in. The water was really running across the bridge. Today it hasn't rained real hard like yesterday so the water over the bridge has come down some. I believe the neighbors are getting in and out. I have not done much today just helped Don feed the horses. I have been messing on the computer and sewing all day. Now I am getting ready to go sit in the recliner and read my magazine while Don and the dog Max watch tv. I hope it doesn't rain next weekend so we can go horseback riding. Don and I got the round pen set up last weekend so I could start working with my horse in it and getting her to flex. I have not even got to start her yet cause it started raining and has not quit.
Well we didn't get much done around the ranch this past week so I don't have any breaking news. Hope you all have a good week. God Bless!! Linda

ANOTHER EXCITING TRAIL RIDE!!!

Okay folks when the pollen is so bad it makes a ring around the pond it is miserable. The stuff at the side of the pond in that picture is green pollen that is just floating out of the trees this time of year. While we were riding today you could look up at the trees everytime the wind would blow and just see the pollen just flying out of the trees. It is like a pollen fog sometimes.
I am also sharing a picture of everyone riding up the trail. Little Noah was riding on the back of rusty with his daddy (Ronnie). I think he was watching birds flying around above us in this pic. Noah finally got big enough to ride the buddy seat with out falling asleep.
Also I really was excited to share the pictures we took of the mama bear foot prints and the cub prints beside it. We had stopped for lunch on top of the mountain and Ronnie and Noah found the bear prints. I am glad they had went through just before we got there. The prints were really really fresh. But them mama bears can get pretty protective over them baby cubs. I would love to see one but I don't want to get put in a bad situation with a mama bear. They are really moving right now. Lisa said one of her friends was riding and seen a mama bear and two cubs. Wow that would be exciting but scarry at the same time.
I am also sharing a picture of a draft horse we seen while riding today. Wow it was beautiful. When it came running out across the pasture I really wanted to get a picture of it cause it looked absolutely amazing, But that is when my horse decided to act up so I didn't get the pic. The picture I did get is a good one though. I know my daddy will enjoy it. Well I am going to try to get some pictures added to my album so will sign off for now. We did have a wonderful ride today. Trying to dry out!!!

We kicked off the trail riding season here at Tangled Mane Ranch today! Wow what a turn out and what a day. We had 22 riders all together and we had about 15 that didn't show up because of the weather. We started out the morning with just a few clouds and every now and then it would look like it was going to clear up. It was warm though. We rode to the lake and had a wonderful time. We stopped and ate a snack and was getting ready to ride back to the house to eat all the good food everyone had brought and folks it came a down pour. It rained on us all the way home. We were all soaked to the bone when we got back to the ranch. The rain wasnt so bad but it was thunder and lightening on us too. So I started praying and I told God "Please Lord we have 22 people here and half of them are not experienced riders so please take that lightening away and get us all back to the ranch safe". Well guess what the lightening quit. But it did rain and rain and rain. Most of us had rain coats but we still got soaked all the way through. I told all the new rider they are not rookies anymore they done got broke in. We sure did have alot of fun. As one of our friends that was riding with us said "we were just building memories". One of these days we will be riding and talking about the time we had the trail ride and it poured down rain on us. The pic's I am sharing with you is of all the riders gathering up to head out this morning. We plan on having at least 2 more rides before it gets really hot and then we will have more in the fall also. We really ride with a GREAT group of people and we always just have a blast! WHAT A WEEKEND SO FAR!

Well I have been off work for the past 3 days so far and folks they are going fast. Thursday I spent all day at the doctor and hospital doing tests and xrays. I went to see her because I needed something for my allergies and my legs have been hurting me really bad lately and I have been short of breath alot. So she done chest xrays and said that my spine is curved and the way it is curved it could be kind of cutting off my wind. But she said everything else looked okay on the xray. Then she sent me to the hospital to do a breathing test she thought I might have a slight case of COPD since I smoked for so many years. But the Lord delivered me from that a year and 3 months ago. Well the lady at the hospital that give me the breathing test said I done really good and things looked pretty good for me. Praise the Lord!!!! Well anyway That pretty much covers my day Thursday. But man she gave me some medicine for the allergies that really works. Plus she put me on advair for my breathing. Then Friday Hugh came up and we went riding. The temperature was supose to get up to about 60 degrees but it never hit that. It was very cold and cloudy all day. But we had a good ride anyway. We rode for about 6 hours. Then today (Saturday) Hugh came up and we went riding agian. We went trail blazing today. It was alot of fun and we had a great time. Then when we got back to the house our friend Linda and her sister came up. Her sister wanted to ride Savanah (My palamino mare) to see if she liked her.So we rode part of the way over to the lake and back and guess what she loved her. I knew if she rode her she would fall in love with her and she did. I guess I am going to sell her if she wants her. I know she will be going to a good home and will be taken care of really good. Well anyway for right now she is still here at the ranch with us and they will be up here next weekend for the trail ride I believe. She is such a good horse and GREAT to ride. The good thing about her is that anyone can ride her. Well tomorrow I am going to Altus to go to Church with Richard Ashlee and the boys and Donald and Adina. Then we are going to the park for the easter egg hunt I believe. Grandma(Rosy) and Grandpa (Dad) Owen will be at the park too. I am sure we will have a good time if we can beat the rain. It is supose to rain tomorrow afternoon sometime. Hopefully we will get done hunting eggs before then. Then I guess Monday I will relax and play on the computer and sew some. Get myself ready to go back to work Tuesday. I will try to post tomorrow and let you know how the easter egg hunt went. I guess I better get off here for now. Will talk later! A long weekend coming up again!

Well folks I know it is only Wednesday but it is the last work (at my paying job) day of the week for me. I will be having the next 5 days off. It is nice right now but man when that paycheck comes in I wont like it as much. At least I am getting paid for Friday. Guess what I will be doing Friday. Well if you guessed trail riding you are right. I think that is Great getting paid while I ride the trails. We have plans to ride Friday and Saturday. Not sure about the rest of the days but trust me if we can we will be on the trails. I do know we will be working on getting the rest of the walls done inside the barn. Don has been working on putting up a hitch'n post this week also so I am sure we will finish it. Trust me there is plenty here to keep us busy. Saying Hello to everyone!

Well folks I just wanted to stop in and say Hi to eveyone. I had 4 days off work last weekend.Friday I went and bought me a used 2006 F-150 Extended cab pick up. So here I am working reduced hours at work and got myself into a payment. I was so use to not having one. It has been 4 years since I had to pay a car payment. But I had to have something to drive. My poor ole van was about shot. It had alot of miles on it and was needing alot of repairs. Anyway I like my pickup I bought now I just gotta worry about getting that sales tax paid. Well by the time I got done buying the pick up and I got home Friday evening I was sick sick sick with allergies. Man the pollen count is just out of this world down here right now. I went to bed by 8:00Friday night. Then we got up Saturday morning and I still was not feeling the best but our friend Hugh called and said he was on his way up with his horses and he wanted to go riding. At first I told Don to just go on without me cause I still didn't feel good. But then I sat there on the couch thinking How miserable I felt and I thought well if I am going to be miserable I might as well be miserable on my horse as to set here on this couch all day. So I went with them. Don said "We will just ride over to the lake and back that way you won't over do it". Well we rode to the lake and when we got there I felt pretty bad but they mentioned going on up and riding sinclair holler trail. So I said well lets go. That folks was a mistake. that trail was another 3 hours up it. Oh it is a beautiful ride though. By the time we got back home that evening I was so sick. My eyes looked like I had been crying for a week and my nose was red and so sore from blowing it. I couldn't quit sneezing and my head felt like a pumpkin. I thought Don was going to take me to the hospital I looked so bad. I had taken a benedryl every 2 hours all day long and still no relief. Well needless to say I took a shower and went straight to bed. Sunday when I woke up I felt alot better. But I have been staying in the house for the past 2 days. Just going out of a morning and help feed then come in the house. Today my eyes feel like sand paper and my nose is running some but not bad. I think I will have to go take a allergy shot in the next day or two. Well anyway I wanted to share some pic's of the ride . We done some trail cleaning Saturday also. The top pic is of us cleaning a big tree that was down on the trail from the ice storm we had in January. The bottom pic is of a cave type opening in the side of a cliff up on sinclair holler trail. At first Don and I thougth it was a cave then we walked up to it and it looks like where the water has washed out a whole in the cliff. You know that is many many years of water going through there. It is amazing some of the things we get to see on the trail. I am so glad I get to go riding and experience the amazing things we do and see on the trail. We are having a big ride up here at the ranch April 18th. We are going to have a potluck lunch after the ride. We already have at least 20 riders commited to coming so we will have a GREAT time. Well better get off here and get myself ready for work. Oh yea and I can't forget to Thank our Lord for my job, my Ranch, my wonderful Family, well I could go on and on but I am very Thankful that I have my job. Please remember to pray for the folks that have been affected by this economy. Only God can fix it!!!!!!!!! Well I better not start preaching. God Bless You all!

Well folks this is a short week at work for me so I am able to get on here and post tonite. I am sharing a picture of a rainbow Don took here at the ranch from the front door this evening. Yes it rained here all day long today. So we didn't get much done around here. In fact we went and looked at some pickups today. WOW the price of new ones is just unbelievable. Anyway I wanted to share this BEAUTIFUL rainbow with you all. Yesterday Don went out and got one of the posts put in the ground for the hitching post we are putting in front of the barn. We have to do this a little at a time cause Don's Neck gets to hurting really bad if we try to get too much done at once. We still have alot of work to do on the inside of the barn and get the outside painted. We used some used sheet iron on the wall's of the barn. Cause of course it was so much cheaper and it had rust on it, but thats okay cause we are going to paint it anyway. I will try to get some pic's of the barn posted for you this weekend also.

We are going riding in the morning and then Saturday morning we have friends coming up to go riding with us . We are going to have a weekend of fun and riding we hope. WE SAW A EAGLE TODAY WHILE RIDING!

Our friends Noah and Linda McCollister have been wanting to come up here and ride the trails up here for a long time. So yesterday I called them and told them we would be riding today and would love to have them come along. So they said "We'll Be There". Well Don and I figured we would take them on the trail over to the lake and back cause Noah has not been riding long and he is not real experienced. Last weekend when Don and I rode over to the lake we found a new trail we been wanting to take that took us out at the creek where we always have our lunch. While on the trail we seen a BIG and I mean BIG nest up in a pine tree. At that time we didn't see any sign of what was in the nest. Well today we were all riding along and talking when all of a sudden Don said "Look that is a EAGLES nest" and sure enough I didn't have the camera out when she went flying through the air oh so pretty. So we watched her for a bit and then rode on to the creek to eat lunch. Well we were sitting there eating lunch and looked up there she was all spread out flying through the air and guess what I didn't have the camera the either. By the time I got the camera she had went back to the nest. So When we got done with lunch we decided we would get back across the creek and then I would get the camera out and get it ready to take a picture of her when we went back by the nest. Well she didn't fly and my horse didn't want to stand still for me to get a good picture. But I am sharing some pic's I got of the nest and some pic's I got of her sitting in the tree next to the nest. I am in hopes I will be able to get some more pic's of her next time we ride over that way. She is so BEAUTIFUL! But anyway for now I am sharing the ones I got today and I wanted to share with you all just one thing that keeps me loving my horse and trail riding. The BEAUTIFUL things we see. The wonderful scenery we see and some of the things we experience on the trails it WONDERFUL! okay okay I won't get off on all that tonite. Anyway we had a GREAT ride today and so did our friends. In fact they left here saying "We'll be back to ride agian". Oh yea and get this. Yesterday it was snowing and today I got a sunburn while riding. Now doesnt that beat all you ever heard?
